Exactly what is DRI WASH 'n GUARD® Waterless Car
Wash (DRI WASH 'n GUARD®)? |
DRI WASH 'n GUARD® Waterless Car Wash, also known as "DRI
WASH 'n GUARD®", or "DWG" is a waterless car wash and
protective glaze. DRI WASH 'n GUARD® is NOT a wax in the
conventional sense because it contains none of the typical
plant or animal waxes used on cars, nor is it solely a polish.
DRI WASH 'n GUARD® is a complete vehicle wash, hi-tech wax,
polish, and protectant all in one product. Conventional
waxes do a great job of protecting, but often leave the paint
looking dull. Polishes are great at removing stains and are
much more capable of rejuvenating dull paint than are
conventional waxes, but they are often abrasive, and provide
no protection. Paint Sealants offer protection, but are
totally incapable of cleaning or polishing. A car’s finish
must be in pristine condition before they can even be
applied. DRI WASH 'n GUARD® combines the best features of
conventional waxes, polishes and paint sealants without any of
the drawbacks.
|
How is it possible to apply DRI WASH 'n GUARD®
over a dirty surface? |
DRI WASH 'n GUARD® contains 50 ingredients, including
wetting agents, lubricants and protectants which have never
been used by the car care industry.
The detergents and
wetting agents in DRI WASH 'n GUARD® combine to soften and
emulsify surface grime, while a specific blend of polymeroxane
fluids and hydrophenolic lubricants attach a microscopic layer
of exclusive PolyGuard-3® to the surface. PolyGuard-3® is an
extremely rare (and expensive) substance which provides a
bonded layer of protection against any remaining abrasive not
broken down by the detergents and wetting agents.
|
Is it OK to wash my car before I use DRI WASH 'n
GUARD®? |
Yes, you can wash your car before applying DRI WASH 'n
GUARD®. If you decide to use old fashioned hose and water,
avoid using any cleaners, they will just add another layer of
chemicals that DRI WASH 'n GUARD® will remove. After you dry
your car, apply the DRI WASH 'n GUARD®; it will make your car
shine better than conventional wax and provide a long lasting
clear coat glaze for protection. Once you use DRI WASH 'n
GUARD® Waterless Car Wash, you won't go back to your old
cleaning method.
|
How do I care for my vehicle between DRI WASH 'n
GUARD® applications? |
Use two soft DWG Microfiber Buffing Towels or 100% cotton
terry cloth towels. Wet the smaller towel or wash cloth with
water until it is almost dripping, then lightly run over the
area to be cleaned (such as the hood). DO NOT RUB HARD. The
dirt and water will not stick to the DRI WASH 'n GUARD® on the
surface. Now take the dry, larger towel and lightly buff the
area dry. That exclusive DRI WASH 'n GUARD® shine will come
right back. Ordinarily, one wet DWG Microfiber Buffing Towel
is enough to finish an entire car. A little common sense will
help here... if your car is really dirty with caked mud,
pebbles, etc. remove it from the surface with care.
|
What is the guarantee on DRI WASH 'n
GUARD®? |
When used in strict compliance with its "directions for
use," DRI WASH 'n GUARD® is guaranteed to perform as
indicated. Upon initial use, your vehicle will shine more than
before DRI WASH 'n GUARD® Waterless Car Wash was applied and
water will bead extremely well on the surface of the vehicle
and dust will not adhere readily to the surface.
Years
of ongoing test evaluations, quality control assurances, and
hundreds of thousands of field test cases that our satisfied
customers have given DRI WASH 'n GUARD® assure its safety and
effectiveness. We, however, cannot be held responsible for
damage that may occur from improper use of the product.
|
How durable is DRI WASH 'n GUARD®? |
A vehicle surface protected by DRI WASH 'n GUARD® will
bead water for a considerable amount of time, up to a year,
somtimes longer. DRI WASH 'n GUARD® Waterless Car Wash even
lasts on windshields which are scrubbed by wiper blades, ice
scrapers, etc. When applied to paint on a new vehicle, then
reapplied twice a year, the DRI WASH 'n GUARD® will prevent
paint from fading or oxidation. Once oxidation begins,
however, it cannot be stopped, only slowed. On older,
extremely oxidized paint, DRI WASH 'n GUARD® may need to be
applied as often as every 2-3 months, even though the paint is
still protected and beading water. DRI WASH 'n GUARD® helps
protect against the effects of high sun exposure (UV
radiation), acid rain and road salt. Back

|
How dirty is extremely dirty when applying DRI
WASH 'n GUARD® directly on dirt? |
Mud, clay, granules, heavy salt spray, bugs, heavy tar and
tree sap are examples of things that cannot and should not be
polished with DRI WASH 'n GUARD®. Let common sense be your
guide. If in doubt, rinse off the vehicle before applying DRI
WASH 'n GUARD®. Back

|
What are the benefits of DRI WASH 'n GUARD® on
glass, and are there any precautions to its use? |
There is no other product for use on glass which will give
the brilliant clarity of DRI WASH 'n GUARD®. The glass will
seem to disappear. The product also makes a glass surface
smoother, or slippery, so that water runs off a windshield
without a trace. This "slick" surface also means that insects,
bird droppings and tree sap can be removed effortlessly. In
winter, windshields and outside mirrors protected by DRI WASH
'n GUARD® are more easily cleared of snow and ice. Back

|
Should DRI WASH 'n GUARD® be applied over paint
sealants? |
Yes and no. Paint sealants are only applied to new cars,
or cars whose paint is in excellent condition. Follow the
manufacturer's or the painting company's directions for
"waxing" your vehicle. When it is safe to wax, it is safe to
use DRI WASH 'n GUARD® Waterless Car Wash. Back
to Top
|
Can DRI WASH 'n GUARD® be applied over other
waxes and polishes? |
Yes. It will cut through any wax or polish and leave a
brilliant, bonded layer of protection. Old, brittle, and
discolored wax will be removed, however, this may require two
applications of the DRI WASH 'n GUARD® to cut through thick
build up. Back
to Top
|
If I decide to wash my car before applying DRI
WASH 'n GUARD®, must I dry it, to? |
A big YES here! DRI WASH 'n GUARD® is a "hydrophobic"
chemical mixture. The chemicals that give DRI WASH 'n GUARD®
such a great water repellant characteristic will not bind to
the surface if the vehicle is wet. Furthermore, DRI WASH 'n
GUARD®'s shine and protection qualities will be greatly
diminished. Back
to Top
|
What happens if DRI WASH 'n GUARD®
freezes? |
DRI WASH 'n GUARD® has been subjected to repeated
cold-cycle tests to -20 degrees F. with no damage to the
chemical formulation. However, the bottles in which the
product is packaged will become brittle and subject to
breakage in sub-freezing temperatures. It is recommended that
DRI WASH 'n GUARD® be stored at room temperature. If DRI WASH
'n GUARD® Waterless Car Wash is frozen, discard the product
and replace it. Back

|
Does DRI WASH 'n GUARD® contain
silicones? |
No... there are NO silicones in DRI WASH 'n GUARD®, also
NO Teflon, NO PFTE, NO abrasives, and NO corrosives. Back
to Top
|
Why shake DRI WASH 'n GUARD®
before each use? |
Some of the product's ingredients fall out of solution and
must be remixed before use. Vigorously shake the 32-oz bottle
prior to filling the 8-oz. AIRosol applicator bottle, then
shake it before each application of DRI WASH 'n GUARD®. Back
to Top
|
Can another type of spray
bottle be used to apply DRI WASH 'n GUARD®? |
|
Possibly, but doing so will nullify the product warranty.
There is no other spray applicator which provides the fine,
even mist which is dispensed by the AIRosol bottle Back
to Top
|
What is the useful life of
the AIRosol bottle? |
Properly handled, the bottle will last indefinitely. Each
bottle is hand-tested before it leaves the factory and is
warranted to be in perfect working order. It should not be
dropped, and it should be stored in an upright position at
room temperature, if possible.
The spray valve needs
periodic cleaning. The simplest way to clean it is to invert
the fully pressurized bottle and depress the actuator button
for three seconds. If the valve is extremely clogged, remove
it and soak it in hot, soapy water, then blow it clean. Back

|
Is too-frequent use of DRI
WASH 'n GUARD® harmful to the paint? |
No. DRI WASH 'n GUARD® can be applied daily without
harming the painted surface. The product works only as hard as
necessary. On paint in excellent condition, it cleans as
gently as water. On oxidized paint, DRI WASH 'n GUARD® cuts
through layers of oxidation each time it is used. The more DRI
WASH 'n GUARD® with exclusive formula PolyGuard-3® is used,
the more brilliant and smooth the surface becomes, and even
more resistant to the elements. Back
to Top
|
What is "Cold
Shock"? |
|
The propellant in a typical inexpensive aerosol can will
cause the can to become very cold after a few minutes of
continuous spraying. This cannot happen with the AIRosol
bottle because it is pressurized with ordinary air. DWG
PowerBlast 10 aeorosol also avoids this problem by using
compressed air. Back

|
Can DRI WASH 'n GUARD® be
applied to vinyl tops? |
Yes and no. DRI WASH 'n GUARD® is not intended as a vinyl
cleaner, but it will clean vinyl without damage and will
protect it. It is difficult, however, to remove DRI WASH 'n
GUARD® from the tiny grooves in deeply grained vinyl. If it is
used on vinyl, do not allow it to dry to a haze before buffing
off the vinyl surface. Always test in inconspicuous area when
using on leather and vinyl surfaces.
Vinyl tops and
leather upholstery will look like new again with DRI WASH 'n
GUARD® Leather & Vinyl Treatment, which is also available
from any DWG International independent distributor. Back

|
What if DRI WASH 'n GUARD®
is sprayed onto leather and vinyl moldings, dashboards, or
tires? |
|
Please refer to the previous question. It is almost
impossible to polish a vehicle without getting some of the DRI
WASH 'n GUARD® on a vinyl body molding, a rubber bumper fascia
or bumper guard, or flat-painted mirror, window molding,
tires, or windshield wiper. Just buff it off before it
dries. Back

|
What do I do if DRI WASH 'n
GUARD® droplets get past door, trunk and hood
openings? |
These droplets can be wiped off anytime, even several
months later. Back

|
Is it really impossible to
burn paint with a buffer when using DRI WASH 'n
GUARD®? |
Nothing is impossible, but you'll have to try very hard.
Under normal circumstances it cannot happen. The surface
simply becomes too slippery and smooth to create the necessary
friction (and heat) which causes paint burn.
An orbital
or a variable-speed buffer at 1,500 RPM or less will do the
job. Do not buff with the edge of the pad-use the entire pad
surface whenever possible. Operate the buffer using unhurried,
overlapping circular motions while maintaining firm downward
pressure.
Before attempting to use DRI WASH 'n
GUARD® with a high-speed buffer, you should be experienced in
the usage of a buffer and the differences in paint types with
regards to buffer use. Back
to Top
|
What other buffing tips
do you suggest? |
No one thing is recommended for every situation. A buffer
will do nothing for the paint that polishing by hand can't do
better or faster. Make sure that the buffer is equipped with a
foam bonnet. Back
to Top
|
Can DRI WASH 'n GUARD® remove
swirls left in the paint by other products? |
Yes. But you must buff in the opposite direction of the
swirl mark pattern, or in a circular motion. Swirls from
previous applications of conventional waxing will be removed.
Scratches from incorrect cleaning and/waxing may not be
removed if they are too deep. Back
to Top
|
How heavy should the spray
be? |
More is not necessarily better. Spray in long sweeping
motions, holding the bottle at least 1" to 2" from the
surface. Back
to Top
|
Can any material other
than 100% cotton be used as an applicator cloth when applying
DRI WASH 'n GUARD®? |
|
The only recommended substitute is a foam bonnet when using
a buffer. Back
to Top
|
Should DRI WASH 'n GUARD®
be removed while still damp, or let it dry
completely? |
Normally it makes no difference, but in cases where the
paint is in very poor condition-dry, rough, oxidized-it is
better to remove the product immediately before moving to the
next area. Back
to Top
|
How many waterless
wash/polish jobs can I expect from a bottle of DRI WASH 'n
GUARD®? |
Using a typical car, like the Ford Taurus, as an
illustration, the 32-oz refill bottle should provide
approximately 10 to 16 applications, the 64-oz refill about
32. PowerBlast 10 in the 10-oz aerosol can should provide four
to five, sometimes more, applications. Of course, the larger
the vehicle, or the worse the condition of the paint, the more
DRI WASH 'n GUARD®® Waterless Car Wash you will use. But
remember a little goes a long way! Back
to Top
|
How often should DRI WASH
'n GUARD® be used to keep an optimum shine? |
To keep the incredible sense of depth and brilliance in
the paint, and to keep the surface as smooth as porcelain, a
monthly application is recommended. Of course, that depends on
the color and condition of the paint and the weather
conditions. Normally, re-apply the product every 3 months,
although the shine and protective qualities frequently last
longer. This will ensure protection even under the most severe
condistions. Back
to Top
|
How economical is DRI WASH
'n GUARD®? |
A 32 ounce bottle of DRI WASH 'n GUARD®® Waterless Car
Wash will provide approximately 10 to 16 all-inclusive
cleaning/waxing/polishing/protectant applications. You're
getting a bargain at less than $3.50 for each application.
Compare that with the $125 to $300 (or more) cost of having
your vehicle's paint detailed. DRI WASH 'n GUARD®® Waterless
Car Wash costs less than a commercial car wash, which costs
from $8 and up for a wash and wax (and not very high quality,
either). DRI WASH 'n GUARD®® Waterless Car Wash actually costs
less than a home wash using a bucket and hose followed by
conventional wax application. Add up the expense for all the
supplies used in the average home wash/wax and you will agree
that you spend less using DRI WASH 'n GUARD®® Waterless Car
Wash. Additionally, you will save hundreds of gallons of water
each time you use our Waterless Car Wash. Back

|
Is DRI WASH 'n GUARD® safe
for clear coats? |
Absolutely. DRI WASH 'n GUARD® has been laboratory tested
on every type of paint used by the industry, from older
acrylic lacquers to modern high-gloss acrylic urethane and
polyurethane paints. Properly applied, DRI WASH 'n GUARD® with
exclusive formula PolyGuard-3® is safe for all hard non-porous
surfaces. DRI WASH 'n GUARD® should not be applied within 90
days of new professionally applied clear coat. Back
to Top
|
How soon can DRI WASH 'n
GUARD® be applied to a repainted vehicle? |
Both the paint industry and the automobile industry
generally endorse a 90-day waiting period for newly painted
vehicles, during which time thinning solvents evaporate from
the paint, allowing it to cure. DWG International endorses
that industry standard. Always check with your paint service
first, either dealer or painting company, if your vehicle has
been recently repainted. Back
to Top
|
Are there other uses for
DRI WASH 'n GUARD®? |
DRI WASH 'n GUARD® can be effectively used on virtually
any non-porous surface, from automobile paint and chrome to
household appliances to jewelry. You can also use DRI WASH 'n
GUARD® on bowling balls, mirrors, shower tubs walls,
snowboards, skis, scooters and wagons, bicycles, glasses,
motorcycle helmuts... the list goes on. You may also want to
try DRI WASH 'n GUARD® for the Home, and DRI WASH 'n GUARD®
Premium Metal Polish, too. Back

|
Will DRI WASH 'n GUARD® with
exclusive formula PolyGuard-3® work on boats and
fiberglass? |
Yes. With each application of DRI WASH 'n GUARD®, the boat
will be easier to maintain, particularly against water
spots. Back
to Top
|
Will DRI WASH 'n GUARD®
remove hard water spots? |
It can, but only if the finish is relatively new, has
already been treated, or the spotting hasn't set too deeply.
DRI WASH 'n GUARD® is a tremendous cleaner, but it is not an
abrasive rubbing compound, which often is necessary to remove
severe hard water spots. We recommend you try DWG Oxygone on
stubborn water spots. Back
to Top
|
Does DRI WASH 'n GUARD® help to
protect against ultraviolet (UV) radiation? |
Yes, thanks to two special ingredients which help screen
UV rays. But there is nothing that can totally protect a
surface from exposure to the sun. Just as sunscreens cannot
entirely protect the skin from burning, UV- blockers cannot
fully protect painted surfaces from chemically decomposing
over time. Back
to Top
|
Can DRI WASH 'n GUARD® remove
scratches? |
Maybe, if they are minor, light scratches. Customers have
reported that DRI WASH 'n GUARD® Waterless Car Wash does
eliminate the tiny "feather" scratches caused by many car wash
brushes. The product does not contain any ingredients which
can fill deeper, more serious scratches.
To remove
light scratches, spray the scratched area with a 12" X 12"
coat of DRI WASH 'n GUARD®. Place a conventional high-speed
buffer, with a foam bonnet, directly against the scratched
area. Turn the buffer on while holding it in position, operate
at 1,500 rpm for 20 seconds without moving the buffer. Repeat
once if necessary. Back
to Top
|
Can DRI WASH 'n GUARD® be
applied under direct sunlight or on a hot surface? |
|
Yes, but only if the product is buffed immediately. If DRI
WASH 'n GUARD® is allowed to "bake" into the vehicle's finish,
dark spots may appear beneath each sprinkle. DRI WASH 'n
GUARD® has been tested successfully in extreme heat, as high
as 115 degrees. however, we recommend using DRI WASH 'n GUARD®
in moderate temperature, wherever possible. A garage is ideal,
or a shaded area outside. Back
